Babel Armed Military Force - 'BAMF'
The Babel Armed Military Force or BAMF is the military arm of the bts. The BAMF military shares a single branch of navy and marines combined under a naval rank structure and answer to the Lord Admiral of the BAMF.
About BAMF
Commanded overall by Lord Admiral (Placeholder), Marines fill the combat roles in the largest numbers while officers command not only them but also their young void-navy and fill most command roles. Both the navy and marines share the same dress uniforms but for obvious reasons marines often wear fatigues and combat-oriented uniforms while on duty.
For obvious reasons a marine captain, sharing a similar rank with the captain of a ship does not have the expertise or knowledge to command a vessel. There is, despite the eventual split in duties when reaching command rank, the expectation that all enlisted men and women are combat trained and able to perform infantry duties should the need arise.
Organization
Bamf is broken down into a very traditional line organization that ranges from a Corps of 50,000 marines down to a fireteam of just 3-4 marines.
The size of a group and its leadership often looks like1):
Command Type | Strength | Commander | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Corps | 50,000 +/- | Major | Contains 2-divisions |
Division | 25,000 +/- | Captain | Contains 4-5 brigades |
Brigade | 5,000 +/- | 1st Lieutenant | Contains 3-8 battalions |
Battalion | 300-1,000 | 2nd Lieutenant | Contains 10-15 companys |
Company | 100-250 | Sergeant Major/ Command Sergeant | Contains 2-4 platoons |
Platoon | 50-90 | Master Sergeant/ Staff Sergeant | Contains +/- 5-9 squads |
Squad | 10-15 | Master Corporal / Sergeant | Contains 3-4 fireteams |
Fireteam | 3-5 | Lance Corporal | Average team size |
For larger engagements involving multiple corps a Corps Command is established with either the senior commander or appointed Admiral in command of the multiple corps. Corps, however, are made to be mostly autonomous in most regards; Operating on individual objectives and in sync with other corps.
There are X main types of Marine Corps types:
Type | Purpose | Notes | |
---|---|---|---|
Cavalry | Vehicular Warfare | Uses light Mechs, and vehicles with infantry support. | |
Shock | Shock Infantry | Uses heavy infantry-grade armor mixed with medium and light armors equipped with propulsion packs to rapidly break through enemy lines, or to launch from ships planetside for shock and awe operations. | |
Special Project Group | Recon/ Tactical | Uses specialized, unorthodox, and flexible doctrines to outmaneuver or outsmart enemies | |
Mechanized/ Armored | Mechanized/ Armored | Armored warfare | Uses tanks and heavier mechs against hard targets with infantry support. |
Sky Corps | Airborne specialists | Uses aircraft to rapidly deploy into or behind hostile environments |
Ranks
A higher rank usually entails an increased degree of training, efficiency, leadership capability, and lethality when it comes to Enlisted personnel.

Officer
Uniforms and Colors
BAMF uses primarily dark greys, greens, and gold colorings that camouflage and mesh well with their dark homeworld of Ereshkigal.
The basic marine uniform is made from a dark grey fire-retardant nylon, cotton, and wool set of fatigues with a white cotton undershirt. It also comes with a pair of comfortable and waterproof leather knee-high boots, and waterproof leather and oiled greatcoat with a peaked collar. The enlisted uniform comes with a peaked and brimmed waterproof cap. For officers, there is a garrison cap but otherwise, the uniform is the same with the exception of rank identification.
The Naval uniform consists of a pair of comfortable blouses and trousers with accompanying duty/holster belts and polished brass-gold buttons and leg-garters with leather shoes. The officer's uniform comes with a standard garrison cap, ribbon rack, epilets, rank-tabs, and white-cotton undershirt. This uniform is the standard issue of naval-personnel

The standard-issue BAMF military equipment is as follows:

Caliburn Weapons System
The Calliburn weapons system is the standard issue BAMF issued firearm. It has several configurations for a variety of roles. It exclusively uses a 6.5mm caseless full metal jacket round across each platform.
The Rifle and carbine configurations are roughly the same with the exception of the carbine variant having a much shorter barrel and stock. Both variants come with both iron sights and a Picatinny rail but more often than not excels with a simple reflex sight. The base calliburn also comes with a built-in flip-screen that with a built-in sensor under the barrel works as a short-range life signs detector up to 50m.
- Optimal Range: +/- 400m.
- Fire Rate: 700rpm.
- Capacity: 20 Round magazines.
The support variant of the Caliburn is heavier with a reinforced heavy barrel, built-in deployable tripod, and foregrip for increased control. And while it can use the standard 20-round magazines it has a specially designed magwell to accept 50-round drum magazines. While comparatively low in drum-capacity compared to most firearms of its role the support variant has proven a staple for support gunners by offering considerable accuracy and reliability and offers exemplary barrel life compared to other support weapons that wear down after prolonged engagement. These traits allowed BAMF support gunners to outclass their competition in the old war when firefights became constantly protracted and BAMF came out on top due to better training and equipment.
- Optimal Range: +/- 400m.
- Fire Rate: 700rpm.
- Capacity: 50 Round drums.
The marksman variant of the Calliburn is longer and more direct in its function as a weapons system. Removing the seer for automatic fire the weapon is limited to semi-automatic fire but trades the loss for a longer and heavier barrel with more twist in the rifling. An adjustable marksman stock and flashhider/muzzle dampener and gas break helps keep the weapon under control for consecutive shots as well as helping to hides its profile.
- Optimal Range: +/- 1km.
- Fire Rate: 120rpm.
- Capacity: 20 round magazines.
Gjallahorn 20mm
The Gjallahorn is a 20mm pump-action shotgun with considerable utility and is issued to OST armored marines. With a wide variety of grenade types, it is a useful shock and awe weapon for firing in the air or in close proximity to enemies with little risk of damaging your armor. The Gjallahorn comes with a 10-round magazine or a 20-round drum.
- Optimal Range: +/- 100m.
- Fire Rate: 60rpm.
- Capacity: 10/20 round magazine or drum.
