M5 Gladius
The M5 Gladius Personal Defense Weapon System is the standard firearm series used by the Babel Armed Military Force - 'BAMF'. They are magazine fed and typically fire 4.3 mm caseless rounds. While it is not required, as the ammunition type used is caseless, the Gladius uses a slide system as a recoil buffer for better control and fire rate. In addition, it's frame was designed for ruggedness and reliabitility with over 1000 successful shots in all adverse enviroments including zero-g. However it is somewhat limited by its weight. One of the favoured attachments is a underslung launcher, capable of firing a 12 gauge shotgun shell, a 20mm grenade, a climbing hook, flares and other exotics materials. Magazines are available in 10 single stack, 20 double stack and 30 extended magazines.

Variants
The Gladius weapons system offers the following variants:
- M5A3/Gladius: The standard version of the Gladius weapon system. Comes equipped with an attachment rail system.
- M5C/Pugio: Compact version of the Gladius. Holds 10 rounds. Comes equipped with an attachment rail system.
- M5S/Venator: Integrally suppressed variant loaded with subsonic HE ammunition. Called the “Popgun” due to the small 'pop'-like sound of the ammo. For further noises suppresion, the slide is locked, increasing the recoil. Comes equipped with an attachment rail system.
- M5R/Spatha: New experimental variant currently being deployed with the Special Project Group and Shock Troopers. Adds a railgun system to the Gladius allowing for chem-rail propulsion for greater firepower. Railgun is powered by underbarrel battery. Enough for 50 shots. While overheating is a not issue, it's still recommended to regulate railgun fire as firing over 8 shots too quickly can will drain the rails energy faster than the battery can handle and make the gun enter a cooldown period.
