Cultures In The Remnant Conglomerate

Being from a large and ethnically diverse world from which Babel Technology Solutions recruited from heavily in its time, there are various ethnic groups that can be found throughout the Remnant Conglomerate.

While there are many cultural groups and ethnicities in the RC, you are not required to make a character belonging to any of them and can make a character with any kind of ethnicity, skin color, race, gender, etc. This is just a list of those cultural groups within the nation of significant note.

Yue (Asian)

In the old world 'Yue' was an ancient scholar and teacher in a region of the planet akin to three kingdoms era china and roughly as united. Yue, in his time, united the fractious factions of his land and formed the Yuen Dynasty for which he ruled as divine scholar for a period of time that alleged to have lasted for one thousand years.

At some point, history becomes vague of the Yuen Dynasty in an era of power struggles and civil war to which ended in the rise and formation of the Thousand Yue; A group of 1,000 scholars each claiming to be a reincarnated fragment of the great scholar and each having a vocation and mastery of the rumored thousand masteries of Yue's thousand lessons ranging from poetry to warfare.

The Thousand Scholars as they would call themselves ruled over the former territories of the Yuen Dynasty in a rotating parliament that only included a thousand scholars.

When one of the thousand scholars would die, a new reincarnation would be chosen from among the masses by special censors who traveled the lands searching for the new incarnation of the scholar. The selection process has unconfirmed rumors of heavy drug use, abuse, torture, sexual abuse, and tests to deduce through unknown parameters the new scholar but are rarely anything as simple as questions or harmless testing that have resulted in the death of many candidates.

Despite this dark shadow, the Yuen are proud people who value knowledge, mysticism, and curiosity.

The Cult of The Lady would have you believe that Yue was one of the lady's comrades and learned all he knew from Ishtar.

Yuen people have thin features, short heights, almond-shaped eyes, thin lips, and gold-tan skin tones. Their hair color is usually raven black but through dyes or treatments can be any color. Their eye colors are often hazel or brown.

Volgans (Slavic)

The Volgans, a stern, stoic and devout people, following a militant religious organization known as the Hero's Orthodox Church (Pravoslavnaq Cerkov'geroq) or the Volgan Orthodoxy to some, which encompasses the Nations leadership as part of their Hierarchy. Believers of an entity they refer to as the Hero, or the great hero. A god who is depicted as a bloodied and reverent Soldier, believing in order and discipline in all aspects of life. That by serving or living life with strict discipline and structure, one may reach salvation. Which is depicted as a place where discipline is no longer fully needed and the worthy are allowed to indulge in aspects they sacrificed in life for their salvation.

A mix of various peoples fall under the umbrella title of “Volgans” many smaller States make up the second largest of what would become the three “main” Nations. Nations recognized for over all world development, decisions and eventually its eventual collapse. Seen in its history by multiple city capitals, through what was referred to as “The Holy Unification.” A long and rather controversial war to unify the many states under the banner of the Hero's Orthodox the Church. Now the 12 Leaders of the States that assimilated to include the groups namesakes, “The Chimaira” controlled the now territories.

To the Hero's Orthodox Church, Canonizing followers who embody the virtues of the revered Hero, is seen as an honor any member of the Volgan First Aspire to be. Members of the religious sect of Volgan military personnel who wished to embody their deity, taken to the upmost extreme. If able to do so they would become Saints of the Hero himself. Stationed out of the City state of Amtapov, the Volgan First saw the most action in the mid-war period of the Heavens War. since national leaders did not wish to initially join the fray.

The Cult of The Lady has spun tales of the Hero truly being their lady Ishtar in disguise. leading to issues within the more zealous sects of both groups. small groups in modern times still follow old ways of worship rather than removing religion as ordered by the Conglomerate.

(Descriptions include fair skin to olive skin tones, brown, green, blue and hazel/gold. Either almond or rounded eyes with brown, blonde, black and red hair colors. height of males average at roughly 6'0ft but the tallest Volgan recorded was 6'9ft. females average height is roughly 5'9 but can widely vary.)

Lusiads (Iberians)

Ask a Lusiad, what is best in life and more often than not, the answer will be one of two: drinking a cold beer after a hard day of working the field or smelling the salty wind of the sea on your ship. Those are the two stereotypes of the Lusiad people, the salt of the earth farmer that never leaves his home or the daredevil sailor and pilot with a burning desire to see what's beyond the horizon. Yet they are also a mournful people, being the only ones with the concept of saudade,a permanent, irreparable loss and its consequent lifelong damage.

Born on a peninsula, surrounded by water on more than half of their borders, it is no surprise that Lusiads developed such a close relationship with the ocean, with fishing as one of the main industries throughout history. “The sea is a Lusiad's mistress and she's always in a mood,” being a common joke. They also contain a romantic view of their ancient history, with their medieval golden age of exploration remembered fondly, as it was the time where the Lusiads were at their strongests. Their colonies were spread out to such a degree, the sun never set on their empire. They are one of the few cultures that still retains their old knightly orders, even if unofficially. In modern times, they are seen as ways to award conspicuous gallantry exhibited by Lusiads. This tradition survives on with the emblazoning of the red lion on clothing, and some special cases, Babel Armed Military Force - 'BAMF' armor.

Yet despite their humble means, they are a cultured people, having a deep folkloric history. Many of their arts take inspiration from other cultures, due to having been the first explorers to connect with different cultures in their world. Architecture and star reading from the Qadesh and literature and dramatic tropes from Acheron (The Travels Beyond Cape Adamastor, being chief among them.) , spices from all over the world in their cuisine. Religion wise, they are equally diverse, although with a majority following the Cult of The Lady.

In terms of leisure, they are great purveyors of fish, cheese and wine. Of special note is their cod, their mountain goat cheese and their signature wine called “D'Ouro”, a “golden” wine infused with small amounts of a medicinal psychoactive drug found in golden leaves, hence the name. But the greatest unifying element of any Lusiad, is their singular love of football.

Lusiads have such features as slightly brown hair, their olive skin, brown eyes and more rare light eye colours, an average height of 173cm.
