A research vessel of a interstellar organisation makes an emergency landing on Gatalia (Shard), a planet populated by humans with medieval-era technology and no magic.

The Nightingam (a research vessel of the Sia Organisation), having been ravaged by a malfunctioned attempt at faster-than-light travel, has mutinied against its captain and has to make an emergency landing. Unfortunately, the only civilization nearby is the biochemically incompatible “gaolers” and the only habitable satellite nearby is Gatalia (Shard), an exoplanet the gaolers have claimed as a nature reserve. It is either land there or perish in the inhospitable void of space, so the crew decides to at the risk of never leaving again.

When choosing a character to participate in this plot, you have two main options:

If you want to play as a science-fiction inspired survivor of the landing, then you will be playing as a member of the Sia Organisation. They are a private enterprise founded by the multibillionaire ex-mercenary Craig Mulder, with its main headquarters placed on a rogue planet in the outer rim, called Prometheus. The main focus of the enterprise is archeological excavations, research of ancient civilizations, and selling of artifacts to the galactic market.

The Sia usually hire personnel only for long term contracts and the corporation is overall clandestine. They prioritize secrecy in most aspects of a mission, from extraction; to analysis and lastly; research. The planets where the enterprise operates are usually in deep space, where many nations have not yet charted.

While the scientists occupying the Nightingam (the ship that made the landing on Gatalia) are highly educated, the majority of them are not military trained. The crew's security personnel are trained on a singular level. They are picked by their abilities and further improved in fields where they under-perform (in both combat and survival). There are lots of training camps in deep space, each on unclaimed planets with diverse and harsh environments.
