Obsidian City Police Department
Headquartered in a single large building at the heart of Obsidian City that houses the command staff, the internal affairs department, and administration staff. Detectives, constables, and Sergeants are spread across the city into different District Stations that’s the jurisdiction that is based on population and demographics, under the command of a Chief Superintendent and their staff of Superintendents.
The Police Department of the NDC is a relatively small force compared to other equivalents from other factions, around two thousand personals, because of their reliance on the widespread use of the Geist and its ability to paralyze criminals and allow a nonviolent pickup. Despite the small size of the force Constables perform patrols around the city to maintain a presence in the public conciseness and respond to emergencies. An aspect-based that is never acknowledged officially is the influence of Noble houses have on individual District Stations, this influence has varied greatly but the Officers of some District Stations have been compared to private militaries of the Noble House the answer too.
Ranks
Constables: Officers that either patrol their Districts on foot, through live feed drones, or AI monitoring systems with the primary purpose of crime prevention. This is considered the lowest role in the department but has the most interaction with the public.
Detectives: The primary investigators of the department are divided into different areas of investigation based on the crime. Senior to Constables but junior to Sergeants, unlike Constables, detectives spend their days following up on crimes that have already been committed, as opposed to actively patrolling to prevent crime.
Sergeants: The first supervisory rank senior to the ranks of constable and inspectors. The rank is mostly operational, meaning that sergeants are directly concerned with day-to-day policing and allocating resources to active investigations.
Superintendent: Second supervisory rank senior to the rank of Sergeants but junior to Chief Superintendents. The rank handles dual responsibility of day-to-day operations while heading up large-scale investigations that require a dedicated task force.
Chief Superintendent: The Third supervisory rank senior to the rank of Superintendent but junior to Commissioners. Chief Superintendent's main role is to run the local police department of the District they are assigned to.
