Notes

History

The True Navi was once a large people that valued the purity of the lineage and respected the importance of family relationships and legacy. The mixing of cultures was not welcomed as it was believed to dilute the people as a whole. This hatred has come and gone in waves and heavily depends upon the current King.

Diplomacy

  • HEIMS - Sworn Enemies, Hostile, Bared from Trade, smuggling of good does happen but is punishable by exile
  • NORTH NAVI - Hostile, Bared from Trade smuggling of good does happen but is punishable by exile
  • CAMPIS - Semi-neutral, no big events to influence
  • SILVIS - Neutural
  • HARANAE - Neutral

Weapons & Military

Weapons found in Navi culture tend to vary wildly from one end of the coast to the other, traditionally being made of wood, bone, or stone. More “modern” Navi tend to trade with other cultures for steel or iron blades, axes, or spears. taking a liking to traditional spears thrown from a sling. A common gift for young boys who are preparing for their first fishing trip is a fishing knife. Women while not exactly encouraged to have weapons often carry women's blades, sharp thin blades that can fit against the body for protection.

The True Navi military is funded by the Royal family, thus funded by the people through taxes. It is made up of a large armada that travels along the coastline and out to sea when escorting trade ships. The military does have a presence on the land, primarily in the royal guard with each district of the country having an active company. The active company, they are further divided to serve as protective forces for the community. Not limited to police, firefighters, and other emergency services.

Class System & Leadership

The Royal Family - Believed to be descendants of a God, the Royal Family is of a class of their own. The King rules over True Navi with aid of his counsel. The transfer of power moves from after to son upon the King's death or through abdication

  • Counsel of Speakers

The region of Peria Beach is broken into smaller districts, each district is permitted, one speaker. Which are almost always male. The speaker is voted on during specific types of the area in each district. Voting is done through the use of a voting signature and any illegal voting is punishable by fine or imprisonment. A speaker holds the role for 5 years and is unable to repeat their service. During the years of service, they travel back and forth between their district (where they live in the district house) and the capital to bring news to the King and discuss government plans. All their expenses are paid for and once their service years end they receive a single payment as gratitude for their time. Speakers receive the title ‘NAME, Speaker of ( XXX ) District’ “Your grace”

The people that make up the bulk of Navi’s population uphold a love for the sea and devotion to life out on the ocean water. Few envy the King and royal family as they must stay on land. Common folk typically uphold traditional views on gender roles. Men venture out to sea on fishing trips or trade, while women stay home and raise children. There is a strong connection to legacy and lineage and family boats are passed down from father to the first son, with other children needing to make their own way in life. It is common for Navi people to have small families, typically only one or two children to reduce the strain on the mother and the second-born son or daughter as they will have little in life given to them. However, since the separation of their people there has been an influx of third and fourth children into families. Firstborn sons at the young age of ten were taken out to sea to learn their father’s craft, either sailing to fish or for trade. Sailors typically retire from their work around the age of 50 and give their inheritance to their eldest son. The son is expected to tend to his parents until their death. Second-born sons typically leave the family home at adulthood and attempt to make it their own way while staying at boarding houses. This is not always the case as some siblings get along well enough that sons can live together in harmony. Daughters are not usually accepted to leave their parent's home without first being wed.

Religion & Ethics

True Navi follows a limited polytheistic religion, with the worship of Ao Kaiyō, God of Sea and Life, and his second wife Kaung, The She-Wolf in the Moon. Kimbazi is an evil deity that is said to control storms and serpents.

The worship of the Gods is led by the Order of Sentinels

Navi Nation runs a simple judicial system of innocence until proven guilty. Those accused of crimes will be provided legal aid to help them defend their actions and their case, the victim of the crime has their own legal aid or in the event, the crime was committed against the 'The People' the legal aid stands alone. The judge oversees all legal court proceedings and determines the fate of the person. Judges are highly educated people and are chosen by the King to serve an area. Judges also receive tattoos that invoke truth and honesty, aiding them in sensing if someone is lying or hiding something. While the tattoos are not perfect, it does lend itself to be a suitable method of justice.

Punishments range from fines to prison time, the prisons become a labor class with little rights beyond food and shelter and are made to follow through with civil service type work. Cleaning of the city, building of roads etc. In extreme cases such as serial murder, heinous assault, or similar crimes the person can be put to death through submersion in the ocean. However, these punishments are rare and the ultimate decree can only be made by the King how as heard the case alongside his counsel men.
