Loathed and feared by all; The office of internal affairs is an organization within the bts who act to uphold the law of the conglomerate to an uncompromising, exacting, and rigorous degree. So steady is their role within conglomerate society as its intelligence agency that despite the small numbers they hold power unchallenged by all but the Board and The Lady herself who afford the OIA a great deal of autonomy.

OIA agents often operate in teams or small groups to tackle crimes and contract violations that go beyond the scope of local appointed authorities. These often include major contract violations, crimes performed by Babel Armed Military Force - 'BAMF' marines, suspected sabotage or espionage within BTS, the oversight of highly classified special projects such as the AUGUR project, and the oversight of public morale.

The Office of Internal Affairs often operates independently of other organizations within the Conglomerate. Agents often enjoy significant latitude in the discharge of their duties, often violating moral boundaries or acquiring vast amounts of resources to achieve their ends, but are a self-policing organization that more often than not is responsible for keeping an eye out for its own member's corruption which at times leads to a watchers of the watchmen scenario.
