Planet Pele

Pele is a world of NDC and unlike Prazoa, it was once a rogue planet that found its way to Secunda Major System’s star orbit.

History

It was unknown where Pele came from, but during the end phase of the builders constructing Prazoa. Station Omacron’s sensors detected the arrival of the planet to the System. They scrambled to try to prevent the planet from destroying the Planet, and the Station by using gravity against it. It ended up placing the new world very close to the sun, turning the once cold rocky world hot and molten.

The Sensors scanned the new world, searching for new resources, while a contest went on to find the name of the planet. New drones were developed with a special alloy to go to the new world, to take a look, and later new starships were made. They discovered the planet to be very rich in metals, but thanks to the location of one Volcano, new materials were discovered.

They created a way station in the atmosphere to process the new metals and materials.

Planet Information

Atmosphere

Very tenuous and highly variable atmosphere (surface-bound exosphere) containing hydrogen, helium, oxygen, sodium, calcium, potassium, and water vapor, with a combined pressure level of about 10−14 bar The exosphere species originate either from the Solar wind or from the planetary crust. Solar light pushes the atmospheric gases away from the Sun, creating a comet-like tail behind the planet.

Environment

On the surface of Pele, the blistering heat from its proximity to the star turns the environment into a fiery inferno. Instead of serene oceans and flowing rivers, molten lava dominates the landscape, flowing and coursing over patches of soot-covered “stable” ground that can still be traversed cautiously. The constant movement of lava and shifting tectonic plates sculpt the terrain, thrusting rocky formations skyward to form imposing volcanoes and other landmasses.

Amidst the chaos of volcanic activity, metallic and crystalline formations punctuate the landscape, creating a surreal and otherworldly vista. Steam billows upwards from the scorched earth, a remnant of the planet's turbulent past when water once existed but now evaporates instantly upon contact with the searing surface.

The skies above Pele are shrouded in a thick cloak of black smoke, a result of the intense volcanic activity and the burning of organic matter. This dense haze obscures visibility, casting a veil over the landscape, yet paradoxically provides some respite from the scorching sun, offering patches of shadow and cover amidst the relentless heat. In this harsh and unforgiving environment, survival is a constant struggle against the elements, where every step must be carefully calculated to navigate the treacherous terrain.

Fire Tornado

Fire tornados, monstrous whirlwinds of flame and fury, rage across the desolate landscape of Pele with terrifying ferocity. These swirling infernos leave a trail of destruction in their wake, scorching the rocky ground with their intense heat, leaving behind a searing orange mark that serves as a stark reminder of their passage. As they dance across the landscape, they encounter streams of molten lava, igniting them into even hotter infernos that sizzle and burn with a relentless intensity.

The fire tornados possess a destructive power that surpasses mere flames. Their heat is so extreme that it poses a threat even to advanced shielding technologies, capable of melting through most metals with ease. However, amidst the chaos and devastation, there exists a glimmer of hope for those seeking refuge from the fiery onslaught. A rare and mysterious metal known as Ultrite, or similar variants, possesses unique properties that render it impervious to the searing heat of the fire tornados. Its presence provides a lifeline for those brave enough to venture into the heart of the inferno, offering protection against the relentless onslaught of flames.

Against the backdrop of Pele's fiery landscape, the fire tornados stand as a fearsome testament to the planet's unforgiving nature. They serve as a constant reminder of the raw power of nature unleashed, a force to be reckoned with by any who dare to brave the fiery depths of this hostile world.

Ash Storms

Ash storms, formidable tempests of swirling particles and debris, sweep across the desolate expanse of Pele's surface, casting a shadow of chaos and uncertainty over the already hostile environment. These violent storms unleash a torrent of fine ash and soot into the air, reducing visibility to near-zero levels and enveloping everything in a suffocating shroud of darkness.

Navigating through an ash storm on Pele is a perilous endeavor, fraught with danger at every turn. The swirling particles obscure the landscape, transforming the once-familiar terrain into a treacherous maze of unseen hazards. Travelers who find themselves caught in the midst of an ash storm must proceed with extreme caution, lest they become disoriented and lose their way entirely.

The howling winds that accompany the ash storm add another layer of danger to an already precarious situation. With gusts capable of reaching hurricane force, these relentless gales threaten to sweep away anyone foolish enough to venture into their path. Even the most sturdy of structures can be torn asunder by the ferocious winds, leaving nothing but destruction in their wake.

For those unfortunate enough to be caught in the grip of an ash storm, escape becomes a matter of survival. With visibility severely limited and the wind threatening to carry them off into the unknown, travelers must rely on their wits and instincts to guide them to safety. Every step taken is a gamble, every movement fraught with peril, as they struggle to navigate through the swirling chaos of the storm.

In the aftermath of an ash storm, the landscape of Pele is left scarred and desolate, bearing witness to the awesome power of nature unleashed. Yet amidst the devastation, there is a resilience that endures, a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who call this harsh and unforgiving world home.

Sun

The atmosphere of Pele acts as a magnifying lens, intensifying the already blistering rays of its nearby sun to levels of searing intensity. Under this relentless onslaught, even the most advanced shield technologies are put to the test, their protective barriers strained to the breaking point. Should an individual find themselves caught in the open, exposed to the full force of Pele's unyielding sun, the consequences can be dire.

The strength of Pele's sun is such that it can overwhelm shielding systems, causing them to falter and fail under the intense heat and radiation. What once seemed like an impenetrable barrier now offers little more than a fleeting moment of protection, leaving those within its confines vulnerable to the searing rays of the sun.

But it's not just shielding systems that bear the brunt of Pele's relentless sun. Even armor, traditionally relied upon for its durability and resilience, is not immune to the planet's harsh conditions. The effectiveness of armor against the sun's onslaught depends largely on the materials from which it is constructed and the level of technological sophistication involved.

Some materials may prove more resistant to the sun's damaging effects, offering a degree of protection against the intense heat and radiation. Advanced technologies embedded within the armor may also provide a measure of defense, leveraging energy-absorbing or reflective properties to mitigate the sun's harmful rays.

However, even the most robust of armor can only withstand so much punishment before succumbing to the relentless assault of Pele's sun. Over time, prolonged exposure can weaken the armor's structural integrity, causing it to degrade and eventually fail. In the end, survival on Pele requires more than just physical fortitude—it demands resourcefulness, adaptability, and a healthy respect for the awesome power of the sun.

Masamune Point

Masamune Point, a strategic location on the surface of Pele, holds within its rugged terrain a veritable treasure trove of valuable metals essential for a myriad of industrial applications. Among the riches buried beneath the surface are coveted deposits of titanium, steel, tungsten, chromium, and iridium, each possessing unique properties that make them invaluable resources for technological advancement and economic prosperity.

However, the bounty of Masamune Point comes at a steep price, for the region is also home to a volatile and unpredictable force of nature: a restless volcano prone to frequent eruptions. These eruptions, characterized by violent explosions and the expulsion of molten rock and debris, pose a constant threat to those seeking to extract the precious metals from the earth below.

The volcanic activity at Masamune Point presents a formidable obstacle to traditional mining operations, as the eruptive forces have a habit of forcefully propelling rocks and debris skyward, endangering any equipment or personnel caught in their path. Despite the inherent risks, the Mining Guild, undeterred by the challenges posed by the volatile environment, has devised innovative methods to overcome these obstacles and extract the valuable metals hidden beneath the surface.

One such technique involves the use of advanced electromagnetic field technology, deployed strategically to intercept and capture the metal-laden rocks ejected by the erupting volcano. By harnessing the power of electromagnetic fields, the Mining Guild is able to attract and contain the valuable metals as they are propelled upwards, effectively salvaging them from the chaos of the volcanic eruptions.

This ingenious approach not only allows for the efficient extraction of metals from Masamune Point but also minimizes the risk to personnel and equipment by keeping them at a safe distance from the volatile volcanic activity. Despite the inherent dangers and challenges posed by Pele's unforgiving landscape, the Mining Guild's innovative methods ensure that the riches of Masamune Point can be harvested safely and sustainably, fueling the ongoing pursuit of progress and prosperity on this harsh and inhospitable world.

Ultrite Discovery

In the heart of Masamune Point, where the relentless forces of volcanic activity collide with the bounty of valuable metals hidden beneath the surface, a remarkable phenomenon unfolds. Here, amidst the chaos and tumult, the extreme temperatures and pressures conspire to forge a new alloy unlike any other: Ultrite.

The relentless geological forces at play in Masamune Point subject the alloys found within to intense heat and pressure, creating an environment where their molecules are forced to interact and intertwine in unprecedented ways. Under these extreme conditions, the molecules of different alloys have no choice but to merge and bond together, forming a brand new material with unique properties and characteristics.

The birth of Ultrite is a testament to the transformative power of Pele's tumultuous environment, where the very forces that threaten to destroy also have the potential to create. As the alloys are pushed and crushed within the volatile crucible of Masamune Point, their molecules undergo a metamorphosis, combining and recombining until a new alloy emerges from the crucible of chaos.

The discovery of Ultrite came as a surprise to the researchers and miners of Mining Guild, who initially encountered the new alloy when attempting to teleport the harvested metals off-world. Much to their bewilderment, they found that Ultrite defied conventional methods of teleportation, stubbornly refusing to be transported through the system.

Recognizing the significance of their discovery, the miners wasted no time in sending samples of Ultrite to the Department for Research and Development, where a team of scientists and engineers eagerly set to work unraveling the mysteries of this newfound material. Armed with cutting-edge analytical tools and decades of expertise, they embarked on a journey of discovery, seeking to unlock the secrets of Ultrite and unlock its full potential.

As the research and development efforts unfold, the true nature of Ultrite begins to emerge, revealing a material of unparalleled strength, resilience, and versatility. From its humble origins amidst the chaos of Masamune Point, Ultrite has the potential to revolutionize industries, unlock new frontiers of exploration, and reshape the very fabric of society. But its journey is only just beginning, and the true extent of its impact remains to be seen.

Station

The decision to conduct all work on Pele from a station orbiting the planet was not made lightly, but rather as a pragmatic response to the overwhelming hazards posed by the planet's harsh environment. Recognizing the extreme dangers inherent in attempting to work directly on the surface of Pele, authorities and stakeholders opted for a safer alternative: establishing a highly advanced orbital station to serve as a centralized hub for all operations.

The orbital station, a marvel of engineering and technology, serves multiple crucial functions essential for the continued exploration and exploitation of Pele's resources. Primarily, it houses sophisticated processing facilities equipped to handle the raw materials extracted from the planet's surface. These facilities transform the abundant resources found on Pele into usable materials, fuel, and other essential commodities, all within the safety of the station's confines.

In addition to processing facilities, the orbital station also hosts a network of control pods designed to oversee and manage the deployment of robotic bodies on Pele's surface. These robotic bodies, remotely operated from the safety of the station, serve as the primary means of conducting exploration, research, and any necessary maintenance or repairs on the planet's surface. By utilizing robotic proxies, personnel can carry out essential tasks without exposing themselves to the myriad hazards present on Pele, thus minimizing the risk of injury or loss of life.

The decision to rely on robotic proxies for surface operations reflects a commitment to safety and risk mitigation, as well as a recognition of the inherent dangers posed by Pele's hostile environment. While the station itself is a testament to human ingenuity and technological prowess, it also serves as a stark reminder of the unforgiving nature of the planet below. In this precarious balance between exploration and self-preservation, the orbital station stands as a beacon of hope and progress, enabling humanity to unlock the secrets of Pele's mysterious and forbidding landscape without sacrificing lives in the process.
