About the Free Captains Guild

An old and loose organization of independent ships and space stations that is known by the general population of the sector as the most accessible method to commission a vessel for a job. The process To post a job through the Guild begins with the party contact info the local Guild office and filling out the required forms. After the forms are filled out Guild staff will manually read through the paperwork to ensure the job is legal by the standards of the local government and then send it to any member captains that fit the criteria of the offered job.

While each captain is free to pursue their personal agenda several factions have formed in the years since the founding of the Guild, three standing above the rest in their influence and power over the rest of the Guild. These factions have had different names over the years but are known mostly by their obsessive focus on singular professions and are called the Jasaar, Satir, and Yobath.

Mercenaries and bounty hunters, the Jasaar are highly skilled professionals. Specializing in escorting vessels, rescues operations, and ship to ship combat the Jasaar will take on almost any legal job. Compared to the other two major guild factions Jasaar have low recruitment standards allowing anyone a place in their ranks. As a result of this policy they are the largest of the factions in the Guild. With many of their vessels either modified civilian ships or retired military ship with a few custom built warships that are used against pirates or raiders.

Smaller than the other two major Guild factions, the Satir are merchants and entrepreneurs and through perseverance and somewhat underhanded tactics amassed great wealth. While any member of the FCG can register for commercial trade

Headquarters

The guild maintains a large Starship, known as the FCG Drifter, built from the framework of the largest of the colony ships that escaped the homeworld. Despite its age and patchwork of repairs the ship still travels around the Calliope Star Cluster and is considered a formidable foe in combat though it hasn’t seen any action in almost a hundred years according to Guild records.

Corp Facilities

The Guild’s facilities can be found all over known space, ranging from offices in local starports to small commercial space stations.

History and Current Activices

The guild can trace its origins back to the fractured and tribal society of the dying desert world of Kaiatoba. With the desert expanding and sources of water dwindling a majority of the population in desperation looked to space seeking to colonize the solar system. The initial goal was to establish infrastructure to collect and send water and other materials back to the planet hoping to either reverse the desertification or buy enough time to find another solution. Despite a promising start with a steady supply line established through low orbit mining and bases on the planet’s moon, several problems arose. Colonists were forced to work and live in slave like conditions to fulfill the hungry demands of Kaiatoba, while on the planet religious extremists began a campaign of terror believing that leaving the planet would lead to a prophesied apocalypse.
