Common Precursor Sites

Despite the fall of the Precursors millennia ago the vestiges and remnant fragments of their empires technologies stand as stalwart examples of times past. These sites, while not a common site throughout the Calliope Star Cluster can be stumbled upon through chance, happenstance, or professional archeological discovery.

These sites are intended to be free use RP tools your characters, plots, nations, etc. can visit.

You can explore, tell stories, fight others or enemies, and do most of whatever you wish in these locations.

They are advanced precursor technologies well above any of the settings nations, and as such are too advanced for anyone to truely understand and as such they are not subject to being permeated taken, captured, salvaged, or abused in any way by nations or characters or groups. You can get ideas from seeing how something works and make your own nation much less effective version, but you may not use these sites as salvage to build OP/meta setting elements, etc.

tl;dr I'm making these sites as interesting locations to visit and tell stories and have adventures on, not for you to abuse for nation meta building.

Static Precursor Sites

Static sites are those that exist in one location and do not move. On planets, asteroids, in-pocket dimensions, etc. These sites are often buildings of some kind that are built on a location for various means but are often much smaller in scale both in size and purpose than other sites.

Precursor Lab

A lab is exactly what it sounds; A building often with an entrance above ground but with a larger complex bellow.

Labs are often focused on a single project or type of research so it is most common to find a lab filled with one singular subject of study and not some grand archive of technology or information.

Diseases, materials, metals, strains of plants or researching types of fauna are just as common to find as ones that had been researching a pocket into another dimension, a parasitic crystal, incredibly advanced magics, or new types of energies and matter.

These labs often have rudimentary defenses of some kind to deter intruders but are hardly military instalations to the point that archeological sites, bandit groups, or local natives or fauna could already call the site home. One thing olds true; These sites are millenia old and are slowly failing in both powering themselves and keeping their data uncorrupted.

Precursor Cache

Often more of a deaddrop for easy access by the ancient precursors a cache is often a hidden vault of some kind containing materials or items that could be anything from stashes of condensed metal cubes that can expand to deposit ten times their mass of that metal, advanced fabrics that neither burn nor tear, stashed equipment, surplus food or items for future research, etc. They simply could contain anything in the same sense that warehouses today are built to store excess or surplus or items until needed.

A cache is, however, often built to be hidden from natives or locals that might stumble upon them and can be hidden in the sides of mountains, under lakes, or anywhere that natives are unlikely to stumble upon them or be able to access until their defenses begin to fail and the great vault-like doors open to allow access to the vault, facility, or warehouse.

Data Vault

A Data vault is a facility containing compiled information often in regards to the location it is found. Hardly a source of great information or revolutionizing ideas a data vault is often a site that recieves information from a lab somewhere far off and stores that information for dissemination.

The true value of these underground vaults are for salvagers that wish to try to track the location of the lab the vault is linked to, researchers looking to gleam any tidbits of information that while redundant to the precursors could be revolutionizing the modern nations, and to tech-hunters who often seak the depths of data-vaults for the facilities artificial intelligence cores which, while only having acess to the information stored in the vault and having little to no important data about the precursors or their technologies only the most modern nations have been able to replicate and for magical nations that can use the cores for extremely advanced information magics that replicate the technological functions of an AI.

Inconstant Precursor Sites

Inconstant sites are either space, dimensional, or appearing on planets that are never long-term. These installations seem to phase, warp, or shift across a sector or through entire dimensions of reality to appear somewhere else. Their existence is often highly contested when discovered near any Nation, and are rarely unimportant.

Mobile Shipyard

A mobile shipyard is a waystation once intended to repair or quickly build precursor vessels for the precursors without needing to travel to a major hub. While they have long since dwindled in their capabilities to reproduce even the most rudimentary of the old precursor empires vessels they still are more than up to the task of repairing or replicating modern sub-capital1) ships and are most commonly found and used by those who have been lucky enough to find one and repair their aging vessels to new health before larger nations come sniffing around.

These sites are often subject to large conflicts between starfaring nations of both magical and technological origins due to the ability to replicate vessels at no material cost and could hypothetically turn out a dozen ships or repair twice that many before it shifts to its next location. For some of these nations, it could mean an edge over a rival or more importantly to deny any rivals from gaining that edge even if it means losing more ships than the shipyard would ever aid them in creating.

These sites have no interior and are simply a cradle that can scan a ship and either repair it or receive information on the blueprints of a vessel and recreate it from scratch using a pocket dimensional space to draw materials from. These sites cannot be used to create vessels of the precursors or any precursor technologies; They can create both magical, technological, and vessels in between. If one of these sites are damaged it will often phase-out of the area and to somewhere else in the sector to repair itself; It is unlikely to damage it enough to prevent it.

Check with the leader of another nation if wishing to recreate one of their vessels regardless of if you have the blueprints to do so or not.
