The Life Seed is a Techno magical construct used as part of Terraforming.

They created the Life Seed as part of the New Dusk Conclave’s first steps into magic as part of its new identity. It wanted to explore using magic as part of the terraforming process should they discover a planet they wanted to inhabit. In recent studies, and the discovery of the different schools, a curious student began thinking of a way to mix science and sorcery. During the scientific part of the study, they discovered it the effects of Co2 had on plant life, as well as the effect of certain insects such as earthworms. The construction of the magic technology dubbed the Life Seed was at the beginning of construction and the student was hard at work to make sure it worked. It was until a few years later when the Life Seed was completed.

The Life Seed is about 9.4 inches (24 cm) in diameter) and is about 50 tons in weight. Contained within the sphere-shaped object is a sphere-shaped tank of carbon dioxide (CO2). Underneath that was the core containing the magical energy for the school of life, including a Magiworm. Within the CO2 section were other microbes that thrived there and already there were the beginnings of plant life. Under the magic particle area were seeds, plants that would one day be on a planet.

The Magiworm is a techno-magical construct that looks and behaves similarly to a earth worm. It’s fairly strong enough to be able to penetrate rock-solid objects, and as the rock is absorbed into it, it changes the rock with an enzyme, changing its composition to that of the typical dirt. Another effect of the enzyme is to cause the Magiworm to create a clone of itself, in effect it multiplies. The enzyme, in addition to the school of life magic particles, is what causes the seeds to become plants and, in addition to the CO2, allows the plants to grow quickly. Without the Magiworm, the plants via the Life Seed can’t grow as quickly. But will have to be done the normal “manual” way.

The Life Seed is dropped onto a planet and as it travels through the atmosphere, its structure is compromised expelling the CO2 which is affected by magic and forced to multiply the amount of the gas by billions. Visually, this effect appears to be a nuclear blast, which compromises more of the shell expelling the magic particles, the seeds, and the Magiworm. The Magiworm being heavier lands on the ground at a much faster rate, and it begins eating at the ground. The Magiworm can crush rock with its teeth, and as it does so it multiplies. In addition to multiplying it secretes this enzyme much like a earthworm which causes the rock to become dirt. Because of the now immeasurable amount of Magiworms the surface layer is completely dirt though the areas close to the oceans have a different mutation as this would be sand rather than dirt. They burrow into the ground, creating layers of dirt until they die out. During this, the seeds managed to make contact with the ground and they sink into it. The magic particles began affecting them. The environments being affected by things like being underwater or above it, cause the plants to change to suit it. Water plants grew and form in the water, while the aboveground plants formed and grew above ground. CO2 and the magic particles cause the growth effect to skyrocket, to behave similarly to time-based magic which causes the plants to be fully formed within 3 hours.
