Astrology of the Rift
The Corporeal Rift has its own astrology, which subtly influences many aspects of it. Because there are no constellations in the Rift, astrology instead revolves around 22 'suits'.
Suit Properties
Sphere
The sphere which the suit is most strongly associated with. For convenience, suits will be in the order of their spheres.
Conductivity
Either positive (+) or negative (-). Oddly, opposite suits all have opposite conductivity, while conductivity also impacts the effect of the suit’s manifestation. These two properties are otherwise unrelated.
Opposite
Each suit is opposite to one other suit.
Manifestation
What effect occurs when the true name of a person of this suit is expressed. X is the being who is the sign, Z is the one who is speaking, writing, hearing or knowing their true name.
Personality
A brief, 2 sentence summary of how people of that suit tend to be. This is not a rule, and an individual may diverge from it in some ways, or conform to it in ways you would not expect.

Relations
Being a core part of the existence of the Rift itself, the suits of the Rift impact many things in ways that may not immediately be obvious.
Metamagic
It is common for the suits to be components for spells and incantations. Their symbolic potency is the primary reason for this. They may at times be used as substitutes for other important information necessary to cast a spell. Only suited people can use metamagic.
People
Some individuals are suited. You must be conceived under certain conditions to have a suit, such as:
- Inside the Corporeal Rift.
- Under the influence of a powerful entity from the Rift. (Ex: Your parents made a 'first born' deal with an eldritch abomination.)
- From a bloodline of suited people. (Ex: Your mother, father, or a grandparent was suited.)
Those who are suited but born outside the Rift may never know they are suited. These people do not usually know their true names. However, the more time they spend in the Corporeal Rift, the more likely they are to discover they are suited, and eventually, what their true name is. Those with similar personalities tend to be of the same suit, though this is not a rule. A person's suit can change, but it is typically a gradual shift, or so sudden as to be caused by a cataclysmic event, such as an existential crisis.
True Names
A suited person has a 'true name'; a phrase, word or symbol that incarnates every essence of that person. It is possible for someone’s true name to be their full name at birth, an epithet, or even a powerful eldritch phrase that no one knows why would be linked to them so strongly.
The effect that a true name has when spoken, written or expressed in any other way, depends on the suit of the individual. This effect is listed in the suits 'manifestation'.
Spheres
All suits are said to be present everywhere in the Rift, though each sphere has 2 suits which are strongly associated with it. This does not correlate with the frequency of those suits appearing in locals. Suits of the same sphere are of matching conductivity, the only exception being the Tumultsphere.
Crossovers
Small portals open between spheres in the Rift, most often between spheres that share opposite suits.
