The Yang-Durata warp drive is the Remnant Conglomerate mainstay method of FTL travel. It works by the Alcubierre principle, that is, contracting space in front of the space ship and expanding the space behind it using exotic dark matter. Thus the object can arrive at its destination more quickly than light would in normal space without breaking any physical laws.

This technological feat was capable due to sharing of information between Babel and the The Senti. Of particular note is the Senti librarian Erniges Durata who gave the engineer Julian Yang access to the information required for such an undertaking. Thus the warp drive bears both their names.

The first widely use model of this technology was implemented in the Black Garden class of Corvette, a FTL capable version of the Black Rain Class Corvette.
