Pyrokinesis has been around for as long as can be remembered and is essential magic taught to most fire mages to control their element in a way that saves them from self-harm by their own flames.

Pyrokinesis is no mere spell and is, in fact, a specialized form of fire magic that teaches control over fire in such a way that a mage can not only manipulate the flame at will but also sustain it away from his or herself through simple channeling. Most commonly, it is used to cause objects or beings to spontaneously ignite in flames that the caster will manifest. However, powerful and experienced users can instantly incinerate targets by concentrating on them and manifesting powerful and potent fire magics.

Pyrokinesis can also control flames not created by a mage, can snuff them out just as easily, and is an essential part in most types of popular fire magics.
