Desert Oasis Extractor Drone

The Desert Oasis Extractor Drone is a state-of-the-art Atmospheric Moisture Extraction Drone designed and manufactured by the Mining Guild in the 6th year. It is designed to hover in the atmospheres of desert worlds to extract moisture and create water for settlements. It is currently used by the Mining Guild, but can be sold to other factions, or corporations for a price.

Propulsion and Range

The DOED1) is equipped with advanced VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) thrusters and solar-powered propellers, allowing it to hover steadily and can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h and has an operational range of 500 km from its base station. Its operational range is approximately 2000 km from its central base station, thanks to its hybrid solar and Plasma Power. It is designed to hover continuously in the atmosphere for up to 72 hours depending on atmospheric conditions before needing to return for maintenance and refueling.

History

The DOED was conceived by members of the Mining Guild’s Engineering Corps, in response to perceptive foresight, for the growing need for sustainable water sources on newly colonized desert worlds. Initial designs began in 6th year after the creation of the Mobile Settlements. Initial designs were prototyped and then entered mass production.

The drone would become an essential tool in ensuring the survival and growth of settlements in arid environments. As well as new colonies in other worlds with water technology had yet to be established.

Function and Design

The primary designed function of the DOED is to extract moisture from the atmosphere of desert worlds, atmosphere using hygroscopic materials and high-efficiency condensation systems and filtration systems to produce clean, potable water. Which is then filtered and stored in onboard tanks, the collected water is periodically delivered to ground-based storage facilities via detachable water pods.

The drone hovers in areas with the highest humidity levels, often during the cooler parts of the day and night, to maximize water extraction efficiency. The drone's design also includes a ruggedized, corrosion-resistant frame to withstand harsh desert conditions, and solar panels to supplement its energy needs while hydrogen fuel cells offer additional power during low-light conditions. It operates autonomously, with AI-driven navigation and operational systems, allowing for minimal living being intervention. The design includes large surface-area condensers that maximize moisture capture.

Systems

Here are the systems that the drones use

Movement

  • Navigation and Control System: Autonomous navigation with AI and environmental sensors to optimize moisture collection routes. It allows for autonomous operation and efficient route planning. AI Systems minimize the need for organic intervention.
  • Propulsion System: VTOL thruster’s anti-gravity generators and quad-rotor propulsion for stable and efficient hovering capabilities.

Power

  • Power System: Solar panels and Plasma Power provide a hybrid power solution, in addition to high-capacity batteries allow for extended operational periods without frequent recharging ensuring continuous operation.

Communications

Secure communication links, allows Real-time data transmission to ground control stations for monitoring and adjustments.

Work

  • Atmospheric Moisture Collection Unit: Equipped with hygroscopic materials and advanced high-efficiency condenser that captures and condenses water vapor from the air converting it into liquid water.
  • Filtration System: Multi-stage filtration purifies the collected water and ensures that water is free from impurities and safe for consumption.
  • Storage Tanks: Ensures that collected water is stored in sterile conditions, in internal tanks that can store up to 1,000 liters of water before needing to be emptied
  • Detachable Water Pods: Enables easy transfer of collected water to ground storage facilities.
