The Pioneer is a medium, armored halftrack ground vehicle used by the Babel Armed Military Force - 'BAMF' as a reliable transport and support vehicle for transporting or supporting marine ground operations.

Appearance

Pioneer base configuration

Interior

The Pioneers interior has room for up to ten marines. With one driver, one gunner seat in the front, and a rear compartment than can hold two fireteams of four marines for eight total in the back it is a rugged transport.

The front gunners seat has a console with a GPS map, tactical data, and a built-in radio as well as a console for the vehicle's weapon if not a turnout weapon like the HMG or ATGM.

Systems

Power

The Pioneer is powered by a powerful battery bank that is recharged slowly by either an alternator or by plugging into a charging station when at a base or supply depot. The battery powers the entire vehicle and can run for several days on low use, or the better part of a day with frequent use.

There are armored viewing ports for the marines in the back compartment. The back compartment is reached through armored doors on the back.

Lights

The Pioneer has a powerful 10,000 Lumen spotlight mounted on the underside of its turret, as well as four smaller spotlights on its roof not including the vehicle's normal low/high beams.

Armor

The Pioneer has a good amount of armor for a medium vehicle primarily around the crew compartment for the driver/gunner, and in the back where the marines sit. The wheels have a deploying foam to keep them from deflating if damaged, and the tracks are armored.

The glass of the vehicle is ballistic.

Tracks

As a halftrack the Pioneer has wheels in the front for steering and treads/tracks in the back for traction.

Flare Launcher

The Pioneer in all its variants has a large flare-launcher on the backside of the vehicle that can launch up to four long-lasting flares ahead of the vehicle. These flares linger in the air on a parachute for up to a minute and can illuminate a couple of hundred meters of its surroundings with the brightness increasing towards the ground but diminishing in the area as it settles.

Smoke Launcher

The Pioneer has four tubes on each side of the vehicle that can be used to deploy smoke canisters around the vehicle to obscure it, protect its marines from sight, or break laser-locking/IR locking devices.

Weapons

The Vedette has many variants with different weapons.

HMG

The HMG variant of the pioneer is the base standard variant. With a 12.7mm caseless HMG with a 100-round belt and 10,000 Lumen spotlight, it is deadly to infantry, light vehicles, unawares and low-flying aircraft. The HMG variant of the pioneer has a turn-out turret that requires the gunner to manually open a hatch and fire the weapon from the turret.

ATGM

The ATGM Variant of the pioneer is much like the HMG version but with two computer-targetted ATGM missiles. with a range of 4km they are devastating to light and medium tanks and can mobility-kill heavier armor.

The ATGM variant of the pioneer has a turn-out turret that requires the gunner to manually open a hatch and fire the weapon from the turret.

Tankhunter

The Tankhunter Variant of the Pioneer replaces the turn-out turret for a full-turret the gunner operates from within with an autoloader and a 76mm mass-driver autocannon. Despite its name, the tank hunter is more suited for light, medium, and heavy non-tank armor. But can damage if not disable lighter tanks.

The tankhunter variant still has the 10,000-lumen spotlight but also has thermal, night vision, and infrared optics with a variable zoom up to 12x. The range of the cannon can reach up to 1.5km

Anti-Air

The AA variant of the pioneer replaces the turn-out turret for a full turret the gunner operates from within has an anti-air missile system and radar capable of locking onto and firing at aircraft up to 5km. With eight AA missiles it is a considerable threat to any aircraft, shuttle, or even light and low flying vessels.

MLRS

The MLRS Variant of the Pioneer replaces the turn-out turret for a full-turret the gunner operates from within where he can operate and use the multiple launch rocket system and GPS to input coordinates and fire up to twelve medium-range high-explosive rockets to support marines up to 15km away.
