-The Iron Company was a mercenary faction that operated for close to a century in another universe before internal strife finally broke them apart, and was reformed nearly 50 years later by their sole surviving member. Their symbol was at the time a red and white shield with a gold cross on it, though the new one is a black shield with a single white star in the middle. +The Iron Company was a mercenary faction that operated for close to a century in another universe before internal strife finally broke them apart, and was rebuilt nearly 50 years later by it’s sole surviving member.

Their standard uniform and equipment colors are Dark blue and gray, though may be recolored according to mission parameters, though individuals known as sentinels had dark green and gray, and usually a personalized coat of arms, while officers usually had a bronze, gold or silver trim to their armor and uniforms.

- +In spite of offers to share the technology and resources freely, the kingdoms attacked regardless, resulting in what the Company calls the Exodius wara brutal 3 year campaign that resulted in the Iron Company’s retreat from their holdings and their sudden appearance in the Scarlet MazeHappening across trio of planetsthe fleet realizing it would likely lose more of its number if they continuedincluding the six massive supercarriers carrying who and what they could save if they advanced any furtherThe worlds they were forced to settle are little more than barren rocksbut with perseverance and hard work, the first settlements were eventually constructed.
-Information on the original company is sketchy at bestwith most of it coming from its sole survivng member from the old days and even then getting the information out of them is like squeezing water like rock-though it was later found that his information was as sketchy as records about their early days were hard to come by. From what is known, they operated initially under the name Gaben's Hunters-a group of human who had struck out for what was the frontier at the time seeking their fortuneAt what point they went from a simple band of mercenaries hunting whatever ugly critters that decided that your face would make a tasty snack to the brightshiny knightly order was unclear, but for almost eighty years they operated under the new name “The Iron Company”, taking various contracts escorting trade vessels, continuing their old profession of hunting taking the carcasses as payment, and stamping out whatever pirates and warlords they happened upon with great gusto mixed in with a little manufacturing on the side. This gave them a reputation for being one of the groups of go-to guys for killing whatever space bugs you happened across, or when you need to tell those pesky pirates with a very firmresounding voice “Hippity Hoppity, hands off my property!” and had the big guns to back it up as well as being handy if you needed something fixed. The Company, even in its current, sad lonely state was always fond of weapons that were powerful, heavy, hard-hitting, or volatile or some combination thereof+
- +
-It could simply be a case of it grew out of the fact that they had been and still were a group of hunters tracking down dangerous creatures that often needed extreme firepower to deal withand they decided to apply that to making whatever the hell was in front of them die. Maybe it was a compensation measure-hard to say. +
-Minus a few details aside from being popular with the little guywhat is known is that some kind of internal strife did them in that Steiner calls the “Schism”, and is unwilling to say anything else. +
- +
-Shortly after arriving back in his home galaxy, Steiner gathered number of a scattered individualsidealistscraftsmen, and a series of techno-barbarian tribes from the Eradani cluster. Through diplomacy and warfare, these individuals have found their way to this universe, though for good or for ill is yet to be decided. +
-It should be noted that many members of the company are extremely anti-magical, causing spells and enchantments to fail around them and fouling magitech equipment and are often known to create dead magic zones if enough of them are together. Howevera few posses the rare and terrifying ability to wield ithowever this is as much a curse as a boon, as the magic they wield is terrible and hungry.+

+Parts from ships too badly damaged to fight or were barely space worthy were cannibalized to form the first structures on the surface. As the colonies were brought online, sealed and life support working away, more and more equipment was brought planetside, eventually resulting in a series of sealed underground facilities, buried as much for protection as they were for stealth. As operations began to steadily increase in pace, new vessels were constructed-fitted with new nav computers reverse engineered from their most capable ships.
+They slowly began to map the Nebula they were in, and after a routine scouting mission along its border nearly resulted in a shooting match between the NDC and their patrol craft resulted in rather tense negotiations-thus their employment to the Conclave began…
