History
L-3000 is a currently unique suit of Power Armour made by Egwene Tai for personal use. As such there is very little to go off for the general public as to what it does, how it does it and to the degree it does it to. Maybe later she'll get famous, drafted or killed and the suit will get more into the hands of people that could get it into the world. Or scrap it for parts and end it's legacy there.

Metallica Corpus
Metallica Corpus is the formal name given to Egwene, to refer to the cybernetic body she inhabits and all the little toys she has stashed inside it. Because if you are going through all the trouble of making yourself a body and scanning your brain into it, you might as well put fun stuff in it.

Mining is a chore. Smaller rocks can be swallowed up pretty easily, but larger ones are difficult for small miners to crack open and get to the goodies within, a high powered laser beams could risk vaporising the valuable ores when you use them to split open large rocks, and maually drilling into them is a time-consuming endeavour that wears on the equipment.

Mining is messy. There is a lot of dust when a Miner drills into an asteroid or comet, and all that dust can have something interesting in it. Though small on it's own, it all adds up to quite a bit if just left to float in space.

History
There is no point making plans for things that don't work. Ergo, Egwene Tai decided to undertake a small field-testing for her idea of an electromotivated metallic fluid suit of Power Armour by adding some advanced self-repair functions to the
