Ember Wisp is a basic spell in the school of fire magic that creates a small, floating ball of flame the size of a fist in the palm of the hand that will float around the caster and emit light or be sent at a target as a weak attack or to set something on fire.
A beginner spell that most aspiring pyromancers learn, it is known by every fire mage and passed down through generations from teachers to students. It is a very basic spell taught to train Pyrokinesis by having a small and low-risk flame that a pyromancer can control at will.
When cast with the simple invocation and exertion of will a small and weak flame will form at the desired point such as in the palm of the hand or at the end of a catalyst. It is hot enough to catch objects on fire given enough exposure, and as bright as a candle. The flame is easily snuffed out in rain.
The ball of fire is then sustained through a negligible mana link/tether and can be controlled with basic pyrokinesis to follow or move around the caster and can be thrown, sent at, or sent flying towards a target such as an object to ignite or a possible target. While the potential damage of the flame is weak and unlikely to cause any serious harm it is still capable of igniting clothing, fabrics, and easily ignited materials.
The ball of flame is roughly the size of a fist and emits light akin to a lamp or lantern. Multiple wisps can be cast and controlled by a pyromancer but is dependant on their concentration to control and maintain multiple wisps.
Remotely casting the spell away from the body such as at a nearby location requires a basic understanding of pyrokinesis.
Ember Wisp can be cast by any mage with even the most basic affinity for fire magic. By giving the most basic exertion of will and chanting an activation invocation or a similar word of power and focussing on a point of contact will activate the spell at the desired location.
To remotely cast the wisp away from the caster requires Pyrokinesis
The advanced forms of this spell are Firebolt; A smaller version of the wisp but with actual power and force behind it intended as a basic attack spell, and fireball; An iconic and powerful ball of fire thrown by hand that explodes upon contact.
