Octagon Building

Home of the main administrative command and control sections of all the branches of the New Dusk Conclave's Armed Forces, this facility is as much a maze to those unfamiliar with its interweaving sections, passages and floors, as it is the beating heart of all military decisions made. The Grand Admiral and Grand General both have offices here to facilitate the ease of reach for the heads of the various branch departments to present current goals and ongoing operations.

As one of the last structures built in the Military District, this was the final part of the military machine needed to fully run and operate the command, control and communications needs of the Royal Armed Forces, allowing the military departments to move out of the previous established structures scattered throughout the Military District to be centralized for ease of connection and intercourse. Finished 40APE, it has become the nerve center of leadership, though very rarely is it a very fast paced place. When commands and decisions take weeks to get from the points of occurrence to the Octagon, and then the weeks it takes to get back to their place of origin, the matters are already long over. Thus, most elements of the Duskerian military send reports when needed, but rarely request immediate instruction as they are expected to operate with due diligence and expectation at being aware of the resources under their command. This results in many viewing the facility as more of an fancy 8-sided office building than a real military command.

Unique in it's design compared to standard Duskerian building practices, it was decided the building would be an octagon to reflect the circle which binds the various elements of the NDC together.

Within this building are the primary commanding officer offices of each major branch of the Duskerian military. In addition, major department heads within each branch are also located here. Rumor also speak of a underground section called 'The Hole' which is supposed to be the place where the whole of the NDC military across it's many systems are overseen and monitored, but no one with security clearance has ever spoken of it publicly, most officers and enlisted simply replying with 'I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of such a facility.'. In addition, other rumors speak of labs dedicated to military technology and research are underway, but these are typically outright denied by public affairs officials every time asked about, often telling such reporters and the like to stop spreading such rumors.

Despite being a military facility, life here is fairly close to 'civilian' in how things go. It just has the added requirements of military uniforms, displays of courtesy and regulations on appearance and conduct.
