Gods and Deities

Things such as omnipotent and all powerful beings in settings can be a bit of a sore spot for some. This is why the current rough details that are being worked with so far by some writers in PM, aim to add more reasonable limitations to their portrayal and use narratively in the setting. True gods cannot cross into the mortal realm, and likewise mortals cannot do the reverse. Most instances of written gods so far, are existentially based on belief in said god/deity, and thus affects the amount of influence they can make use of on the mortal realm.

Limitations

This has been something roughly discussed with staff in the past, however, some of us have tried to do our best as things have been free-formed over time of writing. Gods as stated previously, cannot cross outside their realm, and are limited to weak avatars, or their agents and followers to attempt to enact any sort of will. The heavens and hells, are currently two separate spaces, and are for the most part diametrically opposed. Both however, follow the same limitations, however their gain of influence is handled in similar, but different methodologies.

The greatest limitation however, should be that gods while being occasionally played as characters for narrative interaction, or story points. SHOULD ALWAYS BE CONSIDERED PLOT ELEMENTS, AND THEREFORE OPEN TO BEING USED BY OTHER GMs, AND KEEPING DIRECT INVOLVEMENT OF ANY SORT TO A MINIMUM IN CENTRAL STORY THREADS, OR PIECES.

Heavens

The realm of the pantheon is a table of many gods, both mainstream and minor, and relies on the gathering of influence via the raising of religions and contracting of followers through their angels. Or in some cases, angel equivalents depending on the flavor of god. The Gods tend to be based around a natural function, or even cycle of the universe, and are generally formed around the mystical beliefs around such processes. With differences in cultures, this may lead to several gods inhabiting the same or similar role.

Hells

In the Hells, things are to a degree far more simplified, if albeit more chaotic and disorganized. The dark gods tend to be the belief and fears around certain darker aspects of life in the universe. War, famine, plague, unnatural death, etc. This leaves their numbers to tend to be far fewer then the pantheon, the vast majority of their followers more loosely in check. Most influence tends to be indirect action, or ambition from their demons and followers. Their amassing of influence tends to be likened more to the indoctrination and growing of cults, as well as pacting through deals with their proverbial devils.

Third Party Entities

This one was not originally within the scope of our ideas, but has become more clearly present with the inclusion of things such as eldritch domains, and unique beings passing as gods within certain civilizations/shards. A lot of said limitations so far, only partly apply on a case to case basis, with additional balancing being included per case.
