====== Knight Cavalry ====== Knight Cavalry are the mech-based armor platform used by nation:bts:bamf and are a staple part of its military. Trained predominately for urban missions; cavalry is a specialty for BAMF. Marines who choose this profession are trained to operate in a variety of mechs with a wide array of utility ranging from specialized light scouts made to act as fast and maneuverable raiders and harassers, light mechs with powerful mass drivers that can act as snipers, sturdy and reliable medium mechs made as the background of BAMFs cavalry core, stalwart heavy artillery or force multiplier mechs that can change the flow of an entire battle, etc. Knight Cavalry is taught how to supplement a force of BAMF marines, armor, other mechs, etc. with their mechs and is more than competent enough to drive or even fly most anything in BAMFs vehicle arsenal due to how less complex they are than their usual ride. Knights are the elite of the BAMF when it comes to the operation of these machines above anyone else, and their elite aces; The //Twelve Knights of Paradise// put even them to shame when they take a mech to the field. These marines learn all the skills needed to operate their mech either alone or in a lance with other knights or squires. ===== Knights and Squires ===== There are two types of forces in the BAMF cavalry; Knights and Squires. Knights, as is their trade, are the main pilots and are always officers starting at a rank of Second Lieutenant, though they are often just referred to as their title of //Knight// and then their last name. Knights are more than just pilots, however, and also oversee the maintenance and loadout of their machine as well as their overall combat readiness and act as the foreman or lead engineer of their team consisting of squires below them. //Squires// on the other hand are also trained in the basic operation of their knights' mech and can even pilot in at a beginners level for logistic and testing reasons, but carry the main role of supporting their knight and his or her mech. This can range from acting as a pit crew for the mech when in need of field repairs or maintenance, or as security and support. As such squires will often trail or accompany their mech in fast-paced vehicles or even sometimes on foot and will carry the tools of their trade, ammunition, and other important features of their knights' mech. Squires, as their name implies, are also on the track to one day take over the mantle of knight and veteran and senior squires often accompany veteran knights in scout mechs which are remarkably smaller than even light mechs and are much easier to control and learn. ==== Twelve Knights ==== Unique among even the most veteran of knights are the //Twelve Knights of Paradise//. These knights are not the most veteran but are the most skilled and promising of all knight prodigies and are often appointed by a vote by dozens of other knights who have witnessed their skill. In the old world, the Twelve Knights were legends across the entire decades-long //war for the heavens//. These knights remarkably managed to escape death by the skin of their teeth time and time again over the course of the long war; All but one of them perished in the final battle for the tower, having few glorious deaths and were more often than not burned alive in their machines, or torn out of the wrecks of their machines when they finally fell, leaving eleven of the spots open for the now burgeoning BAMF to one day fill. Each of the old twelve knights was legend and folk heroes of the Remnant Conglomerate. Their names and some facts about them were: * Sappho - The leader, she was beloved by all. * Ditch - The vagrant of a man, a charitable soul. * Wraith - Never was she satisfied, always seeking. * Tins - The youngest, did not deserve to die the way he did. * The Woodsman - A butcher, distant but deserving of redemption. * Cu - Who stood even in death for those who could not. * La'funke - Whose machine danced among the flames. * Sunbae - Who quenched her thirst with wine while Prospero burned around her. * Garo - Who loved his world, even if it sought his death. * Lian We - One of the Yue, a scholar. * Gnat - A pest to all who crossed him. * Allen el Allen - Who wept for all he lost. === The Tale of Twelve Knights === The //Tale of Twelve Knights// is a book written by The Woodsman; The last surviving of the Twelve Knights. It covers the full span of the war for the heavens and focuses mostly on the other eleven knights and their history before the war and their encounters in it. The book covers little enough about the author other than to cover a lot of self-deprecating perspectives. What is spoken about the Woodsman is taken from snippets of diary entries recovered and edited into the book and show a much broader stroke about the man. The book starts off with a light-hearted tone as shown by the general lack of concern from BAMF as shown in the earliest parts as the other nations warred amongst themselves. But the book covers up into the end of the war and each of the other knights' deaths. Little is held back in regards of detail and the change of writing in the latter parts of the book shows a stark contrast to the unbiased and light-hearted earlier parts as The Woodsman slowly delves into seeming depression and anxiety. ===== Knight Lances and Structure ===== Generally, a cavalry corps of BAMF will incorporate dozens of mechs and tens of thousands of marines. In these corps mechs are usually broken up into //lances// with anywhere from two to a dozen knights and mechs and dozens more supporting squires in scout mechs and hundreds of other light vehicles. As such most compositions look like this:((Take note that most every lance will also have accompanying scout and support vehicles, tanks, infantry or air support, etc. If not nearby than in reserve or trailing them.)) **Scout lance:** * x1 Medium mech * x1-3 Light mech * x3-5 Scout mech **Support Lance:** * x3-5 Light mech * x1-2 Artillery or Support mech **Light Cavalry Lance:** * x1-2 Medium mech * x1-5 Light mech * x3-5 Scout mech **Medium Cavalry Lance:** * x2-3 Medium mech * x1-5 Light mech * x3-5 Scout mech **Heavy Mech Lance:** * x1 Heavy mech * x2-3 Medium mech * x2-3 Light mech ===== Mech Lineup ===== Below is a list of all mechs currently fielded by BAMF in order of class. ^ Nomenclature ^ Name ^ Class ^ Purpose ^ | BTS-10 | Rasselbock MK-I | Scout | Scout | | BTS-20 | Rasselbock MK-II 'Cabbit' | Scout | Heavy scout | | BTS-30 | Callimachus | Scout | Scout/sniper | | BTS-70 | Medusa| Light| Light Cavalry/raider | | BTS-90 | Manticore | Light | Raider | | BTS-110 | Skirmisher | Medium | Medium Cavalry | | BTS-120 | Liosultan | Medium | Anti-armor | | BTS-210 | Tortantula | Heavy | Heavy cavalry | ===== OOC ===== * **Player** user:char created this on 2021/12/17 11:39. ==== Usage ==== This article's content adheres to Project Multiverse's submission and usage rules.
