Unlike saints or angels, however, they are not simply prayed to, they are served. Believed to be the only individual that can communicate directly with the Frisians gods they become a sole leader of the people. Because the process of choosing a Loa is so intricate and spiritual & the new Loa receives the wisdom from all the Loa's before them, the Frisian have never had a corrupt leader. * //Loa's are not permitted to have a significant other or children of their own for risk of distraction and a shift in loyalty. The Soulstone then falls under the protection of the Bokor until a new Loa is found, this is done via the (ceremony here). After a new Loa is chosen they will undergo the Ascension ceremony & will have the Soulstone placed in the back of their neck where it will stay for the remainder of their life and offer them wisdom of all the previous Loa's. * Bokor; Max of two. Faithless that are banished or ones that come to the Loa informing them of their decision to leave are marked, tattooed most traditionally on their forehead ===== Religion & Ethics ===== ==== Gods; ==== Nehebkau, Apophis, Vritra & Renenet: The primary gods to the Frisian people; and most importantly living deities, the Frisian have grown to worship the giant immortal sand serpents that tower over their temples as not only their gods but also their protectors from the dangerous Wyrms that live under the earth and prey on anyone they might find out on the sands. But these serpents have always come to the aid of humans, fending off the demonic beasts and sending them back to the depths of the underworld where they belong. In order to aid their deities in the fight against these monsters, the Frisian have built numerous; near life size temples and statues for places of worship and to help ward off the Wyrms in various places across the desert. Attempting to harm, threaten or even speaking ill of snakes, especially using their names in a negative light often warrants swift and harsh punishment. When the serpent's do kill people whether intentional or not, the Frisian trust in their gods judgement. * Nehebkau; An ivory white cobra, with scales more akin to stone than flesh, said to be the eldest and most humble out of the four. * Apophis; A pale green Anaconda, known for his gluttony, Apophis is a demanding beast, who enjoys being showered and adorned in gold from the Frisian people. When displeased or feeling like he's not retrieving enough worship Apophis may quickly become aggressive and violent. And will almost always choose the path of violence if even mildly agitated * Vritra; A golden viper, most of the people try to stay out of Vritra's way if they spot her as she's not known to be overly friendly or tolerant of people in close proximity. * Renenet; A sandy brown rattle snake misunderstood and renowned for her wisdom. Renenet is a kind and gentle soul despite her aggressive looks she is most often viewed as the mother of the Frisians and it is said that the sound of her rattle helps rock their young to sleep The birth of a god; It is said that roughly about once every 3-500 years or earlier should one of the gods ever perish the gods will come together and create a new serpent, and an egg will be lain. The location of this egg may vary, and since gods do not tend to their young like other creatures might it is up to the Frisian to find it and return it to their temple to look after, until it hatches and then continue until it is large enough to fend for itself. Perhaps tucked away in a cave, or under the earth. Though none have ever found him; many relic hunters make tracking him down their life's work. He is believed to be one of the most knowledgeable beings on earth, and it's said that he is incapable of forgetting anything he sees or hears.
