Work In Progress
Obsidian City is the site of the shards:ndc's first settlement on Sirris II, as well as its capital. Settled on an artificial island to protect the settlers from wildlife. The city owes its distinctive architecture to the fact that it was built in part from deconstructed starships, that were later further standardized and modified through the years to be cleaner and more efficient. Obsidian City is organized into 10 districts, a central park district acting as epicenter that the other 9 are arranged around. It is a self sustaining arrangement of infrastructure, all with in a defensive bastion of armored walls, that acts as the seat of power of the royal family.
History
50 years ago after the great Hassan Exodus, the now dubbed Duskerians arrived in a fleet of colony ships from their doomed homeworld of origin. Here they made landfall and began dialogue with the natives once a beach head was developed. Relegating their presence to a small coastal inland gulf, began to build the foundations of what would later be Obsidian City. Originally begun by excavating down into a small island, which was expanded with the earth dug out. Atop this new base, was a large platform started as a landing point and resource hub for further land operations. During this time, there was more then hurdles presented by the large and somewhat aggressive fauna of Sirris II, who proved dangerous without significant firepower.
With the basic platform and mining operations underway, construction facilities were begun to be built once a bridge was made to connect it to shore. This only increased their encounters with the local fauna, which prompted even more severe security measures in an effort to clear the area for workers and colonists. Within two years, a safe area was established with the few passes into the area of land surrounded by tall mountains, were sealed off with fortification and military trench lines. From here, progress began in earnest and was able to accelerate far more then before.
The factory and farm complexes came next, warehouses and depots, then the habitation compound and secondary mine dug at the base of the mountains. It was at this point that the platform was further expanded, and was developed more and more with every cycle, into a bastion of civilization for the Duskerians. Technology and research began to flourish as more facilities were built and a full starport were added in extension. With the safety net system at the opening of the gulf, soon even the surrounding waters were made safe, and a fishery was constructed. Soon the defense walls and districts were slowly built up over the next three years. Even as the twin moons were developed into mass complexes of development and infrastructure, the first land made settlement had always been planned to be the capital of the world they would call home.
Prospering as colonists were thawed in droves, the following years would see contact furthered with not only the locals, but first contact with races such as the star fairing Senti. After some time to fully understand the local languages of the species:tumnisian and species:vaigarin, talks and diplomacy with the natives began. Where the NDC promised to stay hands off of the governance and affairs of the natives, would act as their guardians on the galactic stage. With the finalization of relations, the first two archdukes of the New Dusk Conclaves were officially coronated to the twin thrones with full ceremonial recognition, and made the city the seat of their power for the developing nation.

Industrial District
The mass machinations of progress, and government tools of prosperity, all in a complex of utilitarian efficient systems. Factories, refineries, warehouses, distribution hubs, processing plants, and resource extraction. All of these keep the wheels of the nation's material needs spinning, and keeping the other branches of society supplied at every level. It is a district dedicated to hard work, both in the engineering and chemical handling of said material needs. Every raw resource needed for them, are brought here to be converted into goods, supplies, and assets to be used across the city. It is also where all waste, fuel, water, and recyclable materials are processed for use.
Administration District
Vast amounts of information, and paperwork are processed in the offices of this district. Handling the needs to keep all the other districts on track, at least on paper anyways. The majority of government related office jobs relating to data, and how it is distributed, cataloged, proofed, checked, composed, and more efficiently used by all other districts. Considered the hub of boredom by some, it is an essential even if far from glamorous, cog in the workings of the city. Every level from civilian information, to logs of finances and trade transfers are put through their processes here.
Logistics District
Interconnected to the purpose of the Administration district, logistics handle the more hands on sorting and distribution of material goods. Tallying every crate, person, and script that enters Obsidian city, to gauge how well the city's needs are being met, while also insuring things get where they need to. Every request for resources and goods, go through the offices of administration, then audited into a requisition order for logistics to handle. Where admin are the brains, logi is the muscle in this beating heart of the city's infrastructure.
Infrastructure/Public Services District
For every faucet, toilet flush, can of trash, and wattage of power that moves through the city, public services makes sure it gets handled. Handling all aspects of waste collection, and distribution of life sustaining amenities, someone has to do the dirty jobs. Power, plumbing, trash collection, sewage, maintenance, communications upkeep, and monitoring of civilian systems. It all falls under their purview, and is kept diligently running every day, without stop or fault if possible. The more extreme side of this district is handling emergencies, and transportation for such services as first responder services, and paramedics.
Hydroponics/Agricultural District
This one is pretty self explanatory, being the site for the production and growth of produce. Connected to a fishery extension of the city's platform, efficiently handles the cultivation of food stuffs to feed the citizenry. All handled in compact tight housing that is internally irrigated, nurtured, heated, and cycled for various crops in controlled greenhouse like chambers. Drones handle most of the work here, working the produce stacks, with scientist supervision to make sure harvesting is kept to acceptable qualities for consumption. All of it is sent raw the neighboring food processing plant in the industrial district, along with all cultivated and synthetically grown protein products through cloning.

Outside Area Around the City
Here are the various areas surrounding the city.
Green Zone
The Green Zone, under the watchful eye of the New Dusk Conclave (NDC), represents a bastion of stability and prosperity amidst the untamed wilderness of Sirris 2. Stretching out from the heart of Obsidian City, this carefully cultivated expanse serves as both the economic engine and the beating heart of the Conclave's domain.
Beyond the towering spires of Obsidian City, the landscape unfolds into a patchwork of farmland and residential districts, where clusters of homesteads and agricultural estates dot the rolling hillsides. Here, amidst the verdant fields and orchards, farmers toil under the watchful gaze of automated agricultural drones, their efforts bolstered by state-of-the-art technology and the tireless labor of robotic harvesters.
But the Green Zone is more than just a breadbasket; it is a thriving hub of industry and innovation. Scattered throughout the landscape are sprawling complexes of warehouses and fuel depots, where goods from across the realm are stored and distributed to fuel the bustling economy of the Conclave. Automated food processing plants hum with activity, transforming raw harvests into a dizzying array of packaged goods destined for markets both within the Green Zone and beyond.
Amidst the sea of industry, pockets of civilization emerge, each a testament to the Conclave's commitment to progress and development. The Ranger Institute stands as a beacon of knowledge and exploration, training the next generation of wilderness experts and adventurers to brave the dangers of the untamed wilderness beyond the safety of the Green Zone.
Factories churn out goods of all kinds, from advanced technological marvels to everyday essentials, driving the economy forward and fueling the Conclave's ever-expanding influence. And looming over it all, the NDC SFB (Strategic Forward Base) stands as a symbol of the Conclave's military might, a constant reminder to any who would dare challenge its authority.
Yet, amidst the ceaseless hum of industry and the towering edifices of progress, the Green Zone remains a sanctuary for all who dwell within its borders. Here, amidst the fertile fields and bustling city streets, the citizens of the Conclave find solace and security, shielded from the dangers that lurk beyond by the watchful guardianship of the NDC. And as long as the Green Zone stands, so too does the legacy of the New Dusk Conclave, a shining beacon of hope in a world fraught with uncertainty.
Oceanic Barrier
The Oceanic Barrier, a realm where land and sea converge, is a place of unique beauty and unparalleled serenity. Here, the boundaries between the terrestrial and the aquatic blur, giving rise to a landscape both dynamic and enchanting. At its heart lies Obsidian City, a sprawling metropolis that rises from the azure depths, its skyline dominated by gleaming skyscrapers and shimmering glass towers that seem to reach for the heavens.
Perched on the very edge of the ocean, The City is a marvel of modern engineering and design. Its foundations stretch deep into the seabed, anchoring it firmly against the relentless embrace of the waves. From its bustling harbors to its tranquil promenades, every inch of The City pulses with life and energy, a testament to the indomitable spirit of its inhabitants.
Surrounding The City are a scattering of residential areas, where fortunate residents enjoy panoramic views of the boundless expanse of the ocean. Here, amidst lush gardens and manicured lawns, families gather to watch the sun sink beneath the horizon, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson as the sea whispers its ancient secrets to the wind.
But beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Oceanic Barrier serves a crucial function as a nexus of commerce and trade. The City's harbors teem with activity as cargo ships from distant lands unload their precious cargoes, while sleek yachts and pleasure boats glide gracefully across the waves, their passengers eager to explore the wonders that lie beyond the horizon.
Yet, for all its beauty and prosperity, the Oceanic Barrier is not without its challenges. Storms rage across its surface, their fury unleashed upon the unsuspecting shores with devastating force. And lurking beneath the waves, hidden dangers await the unwary, from treacherous reefs to voracious predators that prowl the depths in search of prey.
But despite these dangers, the Oceanic Barrier remains a place of boundless opportunity and untold riches, where the forces of land and sea converge to create a world like no other. And as long as The City stands as a beacon of hope and progress, so too will the Oceanic Barrier continue to thrive, a testament to the enduring resilience of humanity in the face of adversity.
Mountain Range
The Mountain Range stands as a formidable natural fortress, stretching across the landscape like the spine of Sirris 2. Rising majestically, its peaks pierce the sky, casting imposing shadows over the surrounding terrain. This colossal barrier marks the boundary between safety and the unknown, dividing the lush, verdant expanse of the safe green zone from the untamed wilderness that lies beyond.
For those dwelling within the confines of the green zone, the Mountain Range serves as both a protector and a sentinel. Its towering cliffs and rugged slopes shield inhabitants from the harsh elements and potential threats lurking in the wild. The range's sheer size and rugged terrain deter all but the most determined explorers, acting as a natural deterrent to those who might seek to venture further into the uncharted territories beyond its reach.
Yet, despite its imposing presence, the Mountain Range also evokes a sense of wonder and awe. Its craggy peaks and deep valleys harbor secrets untold, enticing the adventurous with the promise of discovery and adventure. The sheer diversity of life that flourishes within its confines speaks to the resilience of nature, adapting and thriving amidst the rugged terrain.
But beyond the safety of the green zone lies a vast and untamed wilderness, where the rules of civilization give way to the primal forces of nature. Here, the Mountain Range serves as a stark reminder of the challenges that await those who dare to venture into the unknown. Forged by the relentless forces of geology and time, it stands as a testament to the raw power of the natural world, a silent guardian watching over the land it has shaped for millennia.
Mining Guild Settlements
The Mining Guild's extensive operations in the mountains have necessitated the establishment of numerous settlements in the region. These settlements serve as vital hubs for the Guild's mining activities, providing essential infrastructure and accommodations for the miners who work tirelessly in the rugged terrain.
Located strategically close to the mining sites, these settlements offer a range of facilities to support the miners and their families. Housing is a primary concern, with various types of residences provided to accommodate the diverse workforce. From modest cottages for single miners to larger family homes, the settlements cater to the needs of all those involved in the mining operations.
In addition to housing, the settlements also feature amenities such as markets, medical facilities, schools, and recreational areas. These amenities not only enhance the quality of life for the residents but also contribute to a sense of community within the settlements.
By establishing settlements in close proximity to the mining sites, the Mining Guild aims to minimize travel times for its workers. This not only increases efficiency but also reduces the logistical challenges associated with transporting workers to and from remote locations.
Furthermore, the presence of these settlements reinforces the Guild's commitment to the sustainable development of the region. By providing adequate housing and support services, the Guild ensures that its mining operations are conducted in a responsible manner, minimizing the impact on the environment and the local communities.
Overall, the settlements built by the Mining Guild in the mountains play a crucial role in supporting its mining operations, providing a home away from home for the dedicated miners who contribute to the Guild's success.
Central Pass/Military Checkpoint
The Central Pass and Military Checkpoint represent the vital link between the safety of the green zone and the vast expanse of Sirris 2 beyond. Situated at the heart of the Mountain Range, this strategic chokepoint serves as the primary gateway for those seeking to traverse the natural barrier and venture into the uncharted territories that lie beyond its borders.
Here, amidst the rugged terrain and towering cliffs, stands the imposing edifice of the Military Checkpoint. Its fortified walls and watchtowers loom over the landscape, a testament to the military might of the Duskerian Royal Legion, entrusted with the solemn duty of safeguarding the realm against external threats.
For travelers embarking on the perilous journey beyond the safety of the green zone, the checkpoint represents both a beacon of hope and a daunting obstacle. Before passage is granted, all must undergo rigorous scrutiny by the Legion's vigilant guardians, ensuring that only those deemed worthy or authorized are permitted to venture forth into the unknown.
The checkpoint itself is a hive of activity, bustling with soldiers and civilians alike, all drawn together by the common desire to explore, conquer, or simply seek out new opportunities beyond the confines of the green zone. Merchants hawk their wares, adventurers swap tales of daring exploits, and diplomats negotiate delicate alliances, all against the backdrop of the ever-watchful gaze of the Legion.
But amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, the specter of conflict looms large. The Military Checkpoint stands as a bulwark against the myriad dangers that lurk beyond the safety of the green zone, its soldiers ever vigilant against the threat of invasion or incursion by hostile forces.
Yet, for all its martial prowess, the checkpoint also serves as a symbol of unity and cooperation. Within its walls, soldiers from all walks of life stand shoulder to shoulder, united in their shared commitment to protecting the realm and ensuring the safety of all who dwell within its borders. And as long as the Mountain Range stands, the Central Pass and Military Checkpoint will remain the gateway between safety and the unknown, a testament to the resilience and determination of those who call Sirris 2 home.
Geography
Obsidian City is unique in many ways. Built on an artificial island so as to provide physical distance from the hostile wildlife of Sirris II, the city is ever-evolving. Expansion of the city is made difficult in many ways by the fact that it was built on an artificial landmass, and this has caused a further expansion to start moving to the mainland, or in the forms of extending independent platforms branching from the main city platform. The surrounding coast is largely domesticated, but refrained from industrial development, save for regulated government built facilities. Farms are encouraged, as well as small groupings of houses, or cabins.
As a whole, the region is an inland gulf, surrounded by mountains artificially bolstered by a massive stone wall filling the gaps between mountains. Large armored walls extend from the furthest edges of the gulf's coast, and out to a chain of perimeter posts that keep out larger aquatic fauna. By and large, the area has been made safe for free roam, but has been extensively costly in materials alone to do so. This has proven to be very limiting in extending past current erected boundaries, among avoidance of possibly encroaching on the local native settlements and land.
Education
All education is handled through digital courses, or through the academy, which handles the material for said digital courses anyways. It is a complex for all fields and levels of learning, civilian and military both, as well as even those of specific trades. This was done to keep all branches of majors and educations in a more community and social network fostering environment. Instead of segregation by course, the ideology is that they hope to unite citizens under the want and drive to learn. Being founded in the capital, the academy has the most up to date, and top of the line resources at their disposal in the effort of providing as high quality of an education as possible. The facilities of the academy are much in the same vein, also state of the art, for the most practical spaces to educate and train.
Culture and Contemporary Life
Life in Obsidian city can be said to be peaceful, if not jarring for outsiders, or just the occasional person who doesn't have a Geist implant. It is a city of metal towers, adorned in digital simulated lights, ads, and other decorative signage. Despite it's bleak utilitarian nature to the naked eye, is a world of light and color, with decorative overlaid skins that viewers can choose from on their implants. Citizens have full access to the wide and vast information network that the NDC maintains across all influence, for everything from education, data, personal use, and communication.
The autonomous transit systems of the city of multiple vertical layers offers transportation for those who live within the city's fortress like walls. Education, utilities, and health care are all provided as rights of citizenship with anything additional, or unnecessary having to be paid for. This fulfills all the basic life sustaining necessities of the populace, allowing for a comfortable life for most. Society in the NDC as a whole within the core systems, has been established with strong meritocratic policies. The bare minimum is free, with more work leading to gaining more, as well as to finer luxuries.
Things such as entertainment are highly unregulated save for anything that may be considered dangerous, or unlawful, in which it causes direct harm or imposes on the rights of others. The same is true for matters of the arts, and literature, a policy likely done to put space between more draconic practices of older governments in the past. The NDC is far from any perfect society however, as things such a discrimination on a social level, still linger. People still at times, can be found to judge others on nationality, race, or background. Along side this issue without apparent solution, is the strong sense of militant values left in previous generations who had experience and fought through the great war.
Government and Politics
As the capital of the nation, the same governance of nation, is that of the city. However, that is the government as a whole, but the city is run more or less by the clan and cadre council to an extent in all honesty. They consist of cadres of the occupation fields associated with each districts, with clans being those of specific jobs. As a council, they handle local ordinance and regulations, as well as in the manner they are instituted.
