The **1st sphere** of the [[shards:corporeal_rift|Corporeal Rift]]. This sphere rapidly shifts between violent climates depending on your location within the sphere itself and is largely a badlands. The atmosphere and gravity is not otherwise influenced by metamagic, and can be anywhere from safe to lethal.

===== Description =====
The **Tumultsphere** gradually changes between the surfaces of different planets as you move. Observed climates include hurricanes, firestorms, acid rain, toxic atmospheres, molten terrain occasionally reaching 2000 Kelvin, and frozen terrain at times reaching 200 Kelvin. 

==== Geography ====
The terrain is most often rocky plateaus and cliffs, but constantly changes depending on the observer’s location within the sphere. The shape of the terrain changes, not just its other composition.

Many species exist in the Tumultsphere, though they are sparse and rarely intelligent.

Colloquially known as “kinlifters” //(kin, “family, race, sort”; lift, “to steal or take dishonestly”)// and scientifically coined as the genus //Alicia//, after the pen name of Theodore A. Wright’s accomplice.

Kinlifters are a genus of animageia that are able to adopt the forms of other species. 

  * A number of species of the genus //Alicia// are documented, each named after the number of forms they are capable of committing to memory. 
  * They are intelligent, though outwardly, their behavior reflects that of the species they have adopted the form of.
    * **Historics.** Many kinlifters see themselves as figures in a vast, sprawling history. They will do everything in their power to leave their mark before they are reborn.
    * **Journey.** Others see time as a commodity, and would rather amuse themselves with the time they have left. To them, the end result of their existence does not matter as long as their child has a good story to recall.
    * **Scheming.** It is a strong behavioral tendency for kinlifters to be elaborate, paranoid schemers that lie and twist the truth. They will manifest “characters” to take the form of, the characters themselves not realizing they are a part of their own greater design.
    * **Sincerity.** Those that do not scheme, tend to be unfalteringly honest to themselves and others. They play to the desires and needs of their current form, and pick sides based on arbitrary whims and fancies. As far as they are concerned, they are simply “fond of some things, and hate others”.

=== Distribution and Reproduction ===
All species of //Alicia// first took form in the Tumultsphere millions of years ago. Many individuals have since migrated to other spheres, and the genus now spans the entirety of the Corporeal Rift. When a kinlifter dies, it is immediately reborn asexually as a new individual, retaining some of the memories of its parent. Due to this, kinlifters tend to be powerful vagabonds, politicians and sorcerers.
