====== Willcrafting ======

The main specialization of the [[species:aenar|]], Willcrafting, is one of the oldest magic systems in the Calliope Star Cluster. While the majority of it's users are Aenar Elves, other species have also been known to be able to use willcrafting, due to it's intrinsical nature. All a caster truly needs is magical energy, or Vril as the Aenar call it, to fuel the spell and willpower to shape it.

Breaking down Willcraft to its barest essentials, a willcrafter uses their willpower to manipulate the Vril into a desired effect. For that they require both mental fortitude and a supply of Vril. While mental fortitude can be achieved through training, Vril is another matter entirely. Fortunately for the Elves, they were born on a Vril heavy world, allowing them to evolve into a Vril generating species. Some scholars theorize that said abundance of Vril is why the Aenar are so long lived compared to other species of the UNS and beyond.

Nevertheless, while in theory anyone with enough Vril and willpower can cast whichever spell, the truth is that Willcrafting is like any other skill that can be learned, taught and documented. While self taught cases aren't uncommon, rarely do they last long as magic is a most unforgiving mistress.

Additionally, while performing magic by will and Vril alone is possible, the degree of difficulty is higher, thus some crafters use focusing tools, such as: staves, wands, talismans and other Vril-sympathetic objects.
===== Elements=====

  * Air: The element of speed, thought, kinetic energies, friction and freedom. The most precise and quickest magic. Easy to access but moderate to control.
  * Earth: The element of strenghtening, metals, tectonic energy and binding. The most slow and most forceful. Hard to access but easy to control.
  * Fire: The element of heat, purification, destruction and renewal. The most wild magic. Easy to access but hard to control.
  * Water: The element of balancing, redirection, dispersal and dissambling energies. The most calm magic. Moderate to access and master.
  * Spirit: This is the element of pure magical energy. It handles the more esoteric sorts of magic, contracts, wards, spirits, familiars, etc.

Spirit magic is a deeply individual school of magic. It's magic bereft of the bias of elements. It's the Willcrafter's will made manifest. Thus it's no surprise that the Aenar Paths, as personal philosophies of each Aenar share some similarities.
