The Night Guard has a storied history that traces back to its humble origins as a group of ragtag refugees fleeing the oppressive dictatorship on the planet Hasan during the year zero. Vilkas Kurosaki, the eventual patriarch of the Kurosaki family and founder of The Night Guard, was among these refugees. During the chaotic evacuation, Vilkas was separated from his younger sisters, Astrid and Aeta, who were aboard another ship in the Exodus Fleet. Despite the separation, Vilkas trusted that his sisters were safe and chose to stay on his own ship, fully aware of the desperate need for space on the overcrowded vessels.

The passengers aboard Vilkas's ship were gripped by fear, and the crew was overwhelmed by their responsibilities. The situation worsened when the ship prematurely exited warp space, losing contact with the rest of the fleet. The ship crash-landed on a planet dominated by gangs, where the captain and bridge crew were killed during an attack by local criminals.

In the wake of this tragedy, Vilkas, with the help of his friends, most notably an experienced and wise man named Jason Gyokai, stepped up to reorganize the remaining passengers and crew. They transformed the disoriented refugees into a fighting force capable of defending themselves. Among the new refugees they encountered and recruited was Tammo, who would later become the fourth division captain of The Night Guard.

With the help of engineers among the passengers and crew, they managed to repair the ship. Jason Gyokai assisted Vilkas in training the passengers, molding them into a cohesive security force. Vilkas equipped his new force with hard suits, a decision that would later evolve into the iconic armor of The Night Guard.

Once the ship was fully repaired, they left the hostile planet, ensuring everyone was aboard. They conducted proper funeral rites for the fallen bridge crew, honoring their cultural traditions. Eventually, the ship reached the capital system of the [[shards:ndc]], [[locations:sanctuary]]. Here, Vilkas discovered that his sisters had successfully established a corporation called the Mining Guild.

Vilkas addressed his followers, expressing his intention to disband their group now that they had reached safety. He proposed joining the Mining Guild to form a corporate security division. To his surprise, his followers chose to stay with him, thus formalizing the creation of The Night Guard.

The children among the group were enrolled in schools to continue their education, with the option to join The Night Guard once they were older if they so desired. Others underwent additional military training to enhance their skills. === Since Then ===
Since then things continued on for the Mining Guild and in that extension the Night Guard. The Night Guard protected Mining Guild and their ships from criminals, making sure that everything was secured. But in Sixth year, Astrid, the founder and CEO of the Mining Guild, requested a review of the Night Guard's operations. During this review, Vilkas noticed that an update to the uniforms was necessary, particularly for the winged and Naga members, whose unique physiological needs had not been adequately addressed in the current designs. Additionally, Vilkas observed that some of the younger members were attempting unauthorized customizations of their uniforms, indicating a desire for more personalized and functional attire.

Recognizing these issues, Vilkas decided to undertake a comprehensive redesign of the Night Guard uniforms. For the winged members, he introduced specialized modifications that allowed for unrestricted wing movement and added protective elements to prevent wear and tear during flight. For the Naga members, the new design included flexible and durable materials that accommodated their serpentine lower bodies, ensuring both comfort and protection in various environments.
